ORHyA Minutes (June 20th 2010)

The meeting was called to order at 7:59 am. The minutes from the previous show were discussed and approved by Jesse and Cole.

The members assembled brainstormed some new fundraising ideas for this show season. Ideas that were pitched were: a slave auction, the penny challenge, paid warm ups, a 50/50 draw, a Calcutta, pie throwing, a raffle and a boot shine. Due to a time restraint at the Meaford show in July, fundraisers chosen for this coming show are paid warm ups, the 50/50 draw, and the start of the Penny Challenge (which will be carried through the rest of the shows). 50/50 tickets have already begun selling.

Possible year end award ideas that were discussed were jackets, leather halters (with orha name plates), working headstall, and a show hat. The ideas that generated the most interest were the hat and headstall.

Another initiative the group would like to perpetuate is further communication between the youth. Possibly through the creation of a newsletter. The group would also like to take a group photo that could be used for display.

The next youth meeting will be held at the Meaford show on July 17th 2010 following the paid warm ups. Keep tuned for any announcements about the youth in case circumstances change.

The Kemptville show generated an impressive revenue for a smaller show. Keep it up everyone, and we’ll have a great year!
